Windows and doors in Solihull
We match homeowners in Solihull with one vetted window and door installer covering the B90, B91, B92 postcodes. We are an introducer, not an installer: we do not fit anything and we do not set prices. Your enquiry goes to a single installer, who surveys and quotes directly.
Solihull is largely twentieth-century suburban housing in generous plots, which makes it straightforward to work on, with the significant exception of the conservation areas around Knowle, Dorridge and the old town, where what you fit is scrutinised closely.

Housing stock
What Solihull is built of
Predominantly inter-war and post-war suburban: semi-detached and detached housing across Shirley, Olton, Elmdon and Hillfield, with larger detached properties around Knowle, Dorridge and Barston. There is comparatively little Victorian terracing by West Midlands standards, and a substantial amount of later twentieth-century development whose original glazing is now reaching replacement age.
Constraints
What you are allowed to fit
Conservation areas cover Solihull town centre and the High Street, Knowle, Dorridge, Temple Balsall, Berkswell and several smaller villages. Knowle in particular holds a number of listed timber-framed buildings where listed building consent applies. Much of the borough outside the built-up area is Green Belt, which affects extensions more than window replacement.
Our guides on conservation areas, listed buildings and building regulations cover this in detail.

The districts we cover here
A vetted installer covers the inked districts. Anything outside them and the form will say so rather than take an enquiry we cannot place. The hatched districts are nearby towns we know and have not yet signed an installer for.

Questions
Questions about Solihull
- Do you cover all of Solihull?
- We cover the B90, B91, B92, B93 postcode districts. If your postcode falls outside those, the form will tell you straight away rather than taking your details.
- How many installers will contact me in Solihull?
- One. We pass your enquiry to a single vetted installer covering your postcode, rather than selling it to several firms who each then ring you.
- Do I need planning permission in Solihull?
- For most properties, replacing windows is permitted development and needs no application. Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council holds the conservation area boundaries and any Article 4 directions, and those remove that right where they apply. Listed buildings always need listed building consent.
- Who signs off the building regulations?
- A FENSA, CERTASS or Assure registered installer self-certifies the work and sends you the certificate. If your installer is not registered, you have to apply to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council building control yourself.
TrustedGlazing does not install windows or doors in Solihull or anywhere else. We are an introducer. The installer we match you with surveys, quotes and contracts with you directly.
