Windows and doors in Birmingham
We match homeowners in Birmingham with one vetted window and door installer covering the B1, B2, B3 postcodes. We are an introducer, not an installer: we do not fit anything and we do not set prices. Your enquiry goes to a single installer, who surveys and quotes directly.
Birmingham has just about every kind of housing stock the country produces, so there is no single right answer here. The useful question is which era your street belongs to, because that determines both the window style and whether anyone has a say in what you fit.

Housing stock
What Birmingham is built of
Victorian and Edwardian terraces dominate the inner ring through Balsall Heath, Sparkhill, Small Heath and Handsworth, many with original bay windows. The inter-war suburbs at Hall Green, Kingstanding, Weoley Castle and Perry Barr are largely semi-detached with distinctive casement patterns. Post-war estates and tower blocks sit between them, and newer development continues across the city.
Constraints
What you are allowed to fit
Birmingham has a large number of conservation areas, including Moseley, Edgbaston, the Jewellery Quarter, Bournville and Sutton Coldfield. Several carry Article 4 directions removing permitted development rights for windows and doors on visible elevations, and in those areas uPVC on a front elevation is frequently refused. Flats and maisonettes do not have the permitted development rights houses do, whatever the area.
Our guides on conservation areas, listed buildings and building regulations cover this in detail.

The districts we cover here
A vetted installer covers the inked districts. Anything outside them and the form will say so rather than take an enquiry we cannot place. The hatched districts are nearby towns we know and have not yet signed an installer for.

Questions
Questions about Birmingham
- Do you cover all of Birmingham?
- We cover the B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7, B8, B9, B10, B11, B12, B13, B14, B15, B16, B17, B18, B19, B20, B21, B23, B24, B25, B26, B27, B28, B29, B30, B31, B32, B33, B34, B35, B36, B37, B38, B42, B43, B44, B45 postcode districts. If your postcode falls outside those, the form will tell you straight away rather than taking your details.
- How many installers will contact me in Birmingham?
- One. We pass your enquiry to a single vetted installer covering your postcode, rather than selling it to several firms who each then ring you.
- Do I need planning permission in Birmingham?
- For most properties, replacing windows is permitted development and needs no application. Birmingham City Council holds the conservation area boundaries and any Article 4 directions, and those remove that right where they apply. Listed buildings always need listed building consent.
- Who signs off the building regulations?
- A FENSA, CERTASS or Assure registered installer self-certifies the work and sends you the certificate. If your installer is not registered, you have to apply to Birmingham City Council building control yourself.
TrustedGlazing does not install windows or doors in Birmingham or anywhere else. We are an introducer. The installer we match you with surveys, quotes and contracts with you directly.
